What is art? Not your art or my art or their art.
The art which you, me and they imagine, see, search, create
and interpret.
Is art one and everyone interpret it or art that is many,
everyone having their own in their imagination, creation and possession?
If art is something fundamental it should be beyond clutches
of time, if universal it should be beyond anchorage of space, if state of being
then rather shapeshifting.
If you found it you have given it a name, if you are still
searching for it, is art the quest itself?
If its material you can define it, if its ethereal you can
absorb it; if its legend you can propagate it, if its forthcoming you can
embrace it.
If its static you exploit it, if its in motion you want to
capture it; if in abundance you look down upon it, if it’s scarce you speculate
it.
Despite the uncertainties around what art is, its human
quest to grasp, define and classify it; so be it; so be pleased with your
understanding, be content with your definition, and be gratified with your
explanation.
So what is
art? Who is to answer and whom anyone is answerable to, as we speak of art
today and times to come?
Help
yourself with art as you please and as it pleases you; cherish it, admire it or
be at one with it!
